Categories

Categories allow you to organize your budget by grouping together similar stashes, regardless of stash type.

Categorization requires a bit of extra effort upon creating your stashes, but that effort comes with some big advantages.

Creating Categories: From the Category Page

To get started with categories, select “Categories” from the read more menu on the budget tab. Tap the + icon to create a new one. From here, you can categorize your budget with any name or color you’d like.

After hitting confirm, you should see your category listed on the categories page. If you change your mind later, you can always return here and tap on the category to edit or delete it.

Creating Categories: From Create a Stash

You can also create a category while creating a new stash. Simply find the “Category” drop down, and either select an existing category or hit “create new” to and follow the prompts to get started.

If you have existing stashes or ones that were generated and skipped the categorization step, simply tap on the stash you’d like to categorize and hit the edit icon in the upper right. Scroll down until you see the “Category” drop down to set your category.

Using Categories to Track Budget Allocation

Once your stashes are categorized, you can filter them to see how much you currently have allocated toward any given category or set of categories. Simply set your filter to the categories you’d like to see and then reference your “currently budgeted” amount at the top of the page.

Using Categories to Organize Stashes

You can also use the filter to sort your stashes - either alphabetically or category. This makes skimming your budget and finding specific stashes a breeze.
