Step 2: Invite Your Partner

Once you've linked your bank account, you can now invite your partner! On the home screen, tap on the partner tab. It will let you know you if haven't invited a partner yet, and to head to the Household screen to invite them.

Tap the "Go to Household" button to be directed to the Household screen. This screen allows you to manage your linked bank accounts as well as your partner. Here you add more banks, delete a bank, add more accounts to a linked bank, add a partner and edit accounts a partner has access to. To add your partner, tap on the plus button in the "Partners" section.

A new screen will pop up allowing you to select which linked bank accounts you want to share with a partner. Select the accounts you wish to share and tap "Next".

Enter your partner’s email address carefully, as they’ll need to use this exact email to sign up for Halfsies and receive your invitation. You’ll also be granting them access to your linked bank account and transaction data, so double-check that you’re sharing the correct account with the right person.

Tap "Invite Partner" and an invitation will be sent! Your partner will receive an email prompting them to download the app.

Once they have downloaded the app and signed in, they will receive a notification prompting them to accept your invitation. Once they accept, they will be added to the invited bank account! You can now budget together!

Adding or removing accounts from an existing partner

As well as inviting a new partner to a linked bank, you can add or remove an existing partner from a linked bank. On the household screen, tap on your partner's name.

This will open up the account selector screen, similar to the screen you used to invite your partner. Accounts your partner has access to will be pre-selected, and from here you can either deselect accounts to remove them, or select new accounts you want to share. Once you have selected or deselected accounts, tap "Next".

You will be taken to a screen to confirm the actions you want to take, including accounts that will be shared with them, and accounts they will be removed from. Keep in mind any partner you remove from an account will lose all of their stash data, and their balance and transactions will be moved to the shared account.

Tap the button to confirm the actions you want to take, and depending on the accounts you selected, your partner will be either be removed, added or both.
